Bei Homefront handelt es sich um einen in der nahen Zukunft spielenden Ego-Shooter, in den derzeit große Hoffnungen gesteckt werden. In einem fiktiven Szenario werden Nord- und Südkorea unter dem Sohn des zu diesem Zeitpunkt verstorbenen Kim Jong Il gewaltsam wiedervereinigt. Der nächste Schlag der aufstrebenden Militärmacht gilt den USA. Im spiel wird nicht der Beginn dieses Konflikts geschildert sondern die unmittelbare Situation innerhalb des Kriegsgebietes, das sich dieses mal auf amerikanischem Boden befindet.  Die Entwickler sprechen von einem völlig anderem Shooter-Erlebnis als gewohnt und orientieren sich im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen Vertretern ihres Genres was die Storytiefe angeht eher an Half Life als an den relativ seichten Durchschnittsshootern.

Homefront is an Ego Shooter in which at present big hopes are put playing in the close future. In a fictitious scenario North Korea and South Korea are reunified under the son of Kim Jong Il to this moment . The next thing the aspring military power is focussed on is a military attack to the USA. In the game not the beginning of this conflict is described but the direct situation within the war zone which is this on American ground. The developers speak from a different Shooter experience than usually and orientate themselves, in contrast to most other representatives of their genre towards the story depth like for example in Half Life rather in helped Life than in other shooters.

Da Cloud Computing ( server-seitige Berechnung von Anwendungen ) im Fall von Spielen nun wie im Beispiel von Onlive, immer populärer wird, darf es natürlich nicht an Konkurrenzangeboten nicht fehlen. Eines davon stellt der Streaming Service Gaikai dar. Im folgenden Video wird gezeigt wie gut dieser Funktioniert und zwar mit einem Netbook das über eine 18mbit-Leitung ein 720p Videosignal von einem etwa 25 Kilometer entfernten Server erhielt. Das Ergebnis spricht für sich.

Since Cloud Computing ( server-based calculation of applications ) is becoming more and more popular in the gaming industry like for example Onlive, of course there have to be some competitors. On of them is the streaming service Gaikai. In the following video it's shown how well this works with a netbook which gets a 720p video input via an 18 mbit connection from a server which is approximately 15 miles away. The result speaks for itself.

The Witcher (polnisch Wiedźmin) war das erste Computerspiel des polnischen Publishers CD Projekt. Unter dem Namen CD Projekt Red wurde im Februar 2002 ein eigens dafür errichtetes Entwicklerstudio gegründet. Das für den PC ausgelegte Fantasy-Rollenspiel basiert auf einer Buchreihe des polnischen Fantasy-Schriftstellers Andrzej Sapkowski. Das Spiel hatte viele Stärken wie z.B. ein ausgefeiltes Kampfsystem und einen starken Rollenspielaspekt. Nun ist ein neuer Teil in Arbeit. Hier ist eins von mehreren kommentierten Videos mit den Entwicklern zu bekanntem Game Material.

The Witcher ( polish Wiedźmin ) was the first computer game of the polish publisher CD Projekt. In February 2002 the game studio CD Projekt Red was specifically founded for this game. The game is based on the book series of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The game had many strenghts like for example the combat system or strong role playing aspect. Now there's a new title called The Witcher 2 in the works. Here's some commented video footage with the developers and some already common gameplay.

The horror shooter Afterfall Insanity sends players into a post nuclear world in the year 2012, where they fight as a psychiatrist against different threats for their life. Publisher The Games Company also said that the game is going to focus on third person fights and a complex story.

Was man auch mit Kinect anstellen kann / What you can do else with Kinect

Sieh mal einer an, mit Hilfe Eines Nettop PCs, ein paar Roboterbauteilen und eben der Kinect Kamera scheint es ein paar Leuten möglich gewesen sein einen "KinectBot" herzustellen, ein kleiner Roboter auf Rädern der mit Hilfe der Kinectkamera in der Lage ist sich im dreidimensionalen Raum zu Recht zu finden und etwa Menschen und deren Gesten zu erkennen. Respekt!

Look what we got here, built of a nettop PC, a few robot components and the Kinect camera some people were actually able to build a fully working roboter which is able to orient itself in the thee dimensional room and even recognizes humans and their gestures. Respect!

Es sieht so aus als ob die russische Twitterseite von Sony heute unerwartet vor dem angekündigten 11. Dezember bekannt gegeben habe, worum es sich bei den Videoausschnitten des Teasers von Bioware, der vor einigen Tagen aufgetaucht ist, hält. Hier die Übersetzung des Posts:

Dark Tranquillity ist eine Melodic Death Metal Band aus Göteborg ( Schweden ) und stellt wohl auch eine der Berühmtesten dieses Genres dar. Ihr neues Album erhielt gute Kritiken und in diesem Video widmet sich ein Interviewer den Fragen nach der Inspiration von Album und Artwork und zieht einen Vergleich zwischen Studio- und Live-Soundqualität.

Wozu auf Microsoft warten?/ Why should you wait for Microsoft?

Microsofts neue Hardware, Kinect, eine neue Bewegungsssteuerung, die den ganzen Körper mittels Infrarotkamera erfasst und dessen Bewegungen erkennt und auf Spiele übertragen kann, ist bereits wenige Tage nach dem Start gehackt worden. Anstatt auf eine mögliche Umsetzung der Technologie seitens Microsoft zu warten haben Hacker bereits provisorische Treiber erstellt über die sich Kamera sowie 3D-Messdaten des Geräts erfassen lassen. Was man bisher damit anstellen kann demonstriert eindrucksvoll das untere Video.

Microsofts new Hardware, Kinect, a new sort oft motion controle hardware which scans the hole body with an infrared-camera and can capture your body motions has just been hacked a few days after its release. Instead of wating for Microsoft to convert the technology for pc, hackers have already created drivers with which they are able to get data from the camera like the 3D-Information of objects in the room. What's possible to do with this is demonstrated in the video below.

Da 3D nun in aller Munde ist lassen auch die ersten 3D-Camcorder nicht lange auf sich warten. Hierbei handelt es sich nun um ein Modell dass sich auch 3D-Einsteiger leisten können, dass über 2 5Megapixel-Kameras verfügt, die auch jeweils mit 720p aufzeichnen. Kosten soll er 180 US-Dollar. Wieviel er in Deutschland kosten wird ist noch nicht bekannt, da er bisher nicht gelistet ist.
